Roy had an excellent track record in Formula 1 at Aintree and competed in the 1955 race in a Maserati (retired with gearbox problems on lap 19), finished 5th in the 1957 British GP (Cooper Climax), 6th in 1959 in an Aston Martin, 6th and highest finishing Brit in the ’61 GP in a Cooper-Climax and retired on lap 35 of the ’62 GP in his Lola Climax with a faulty battery.

Roy will join his friends and fellow legends, Stirling Moss and Tony Brooks for the MotorSport Revival on Friday 19th and the Horsepower Weekend on the 20th and 21st of November which will include the Legends Charity Dinner on the Friday evening and the Enthusiasts Dinner on the Saturday.

Roy said, ” I am absolutely delighted to be invited back to Aintree, which way round will be going!?”, referring to the fact that the first race event in 1954 was run anticlockwise, to follow the same direction as the Grand National. All subsequent races ran in the traditional clockwise direction. Roy also said, “I have some very fond memories of Aintree, fantastic races, huge roaring crowds and some historic results”…..”it was also one of the safest places to race with no serious injuries or fatalities”…a fact still true today.
